We fought 17 years to save Mama Joy's home at 227 Abolitionist Place. We WON. Because of our victory, New York City committed to build a monument to 19th century Brooklyn Abolitionism at the park next to Mama Joy's home. They have not lived up to their promise.

Now it's time to take control over the future. Who will tell the story of Brooklyn's fight for freedom? Our City has a legacy of supporting and profiting from the Southern Slave system. If want to celebrate our neglected history of liberation, we can't rely on other people to do it.

Join us for a virtual discussion about Sisters In Freedom monument and the future of 227 Abolitionist Place at 7pm on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022.

We will hear from longtime activists, as well as new leaders rising from Girl Scout Troop 2663. We're especially glad to hear from family members of suffragists. Speakers include:
